  RCW 67.16.105(3) Class C Purse Fund
One-tenth of one percent of the in-state pari-mutuel handle is collected every calendar year to provide funding for purses at the state’s non-profit race tracks. The Washington Horse Racing Commission shall transfer the funds collected plus the difference between this amount and three hundred thousand dollars. The amount collected in 2002 was $144,518.83 leaving a difference of $155,481.17 to be paid from the Commission’s operating budget in 2003.

The Washington Horse Racing Commission receives 1.3% for the pari-mutuel handle from Class A race tracks (Emerald Downs) and 0.52% from Class B race tracks (Playfair). These funds are used to regulate horse racing within Washington State.

RCW 67.16.102 Owners Bonus
One percent of the pari-mutuel handle to be paid at the end of the race year to all licensed owners whose horses place first, second, third, or fourth. The horses must be bred within Washington State and run at a for-profit race track.

 

RCW 67.16.175(2) Breeders Award
One percent of the pari-mutuel handle from exotic wagers to be paid at the end of the race year to all licensed owners whose horses were bred within Washington State and finished first at a for-profit race track.

 
Daily Fees
A fee of $500 per day is collected from each Class A race track and $10 per day from each Class C race track (non-profit) for each live meet race day.

Interest derived from the Owner's Bonus shall be paid to the Class C race tracks (non-profit) for maintaining and upgrading their respective racing courses and equine quartering areas. The interest paid in 2002 was $36,053.12 and $12,935.71 in 2003.
